YOUTH THAT COME TO MDJ MAKE FRIENDS, DISCOVER TALENTS AND FIND THEIR VOICE

The Maison des jeunes de Pierrefonds is a non profit organization, open since February 6th 1984, whose goal it is to encourage youth, aged 12 to 17 years old, to be active, think critically and be responsible young adults. This mandate is realized through the creation of cultural, social, educational and recreational activities and programs.

For many youth, the new contacts with other youth and staff at the centre, justifies their time spent here.  The staff are 'open' and able to receive and treat information as well as pass on information that the youth may need.  The contacts are free, no strings attached and are stimulating.  They allow the youth to 'take a step back' concerning their perceptions of school, family and their future. The Maison des jeunes de Pierrefonds can offer youth an anchor, a waypoint with the tools to guide them, so they know where they are going and why.

Through its varied activities and programs and its 'living environment', our center aims to overcome isolation and diminish inactivity by replacing it with responsibility and the development of automony.  To teach youth to make clear and informed decisions, to address specific questions and discuss subjects that affect their lives.

By creating and maintaining a safe and inviting living environment for the youth, we facilitate the freedom of expression and open exchanges, while promoting diversity and most importantly, respect.
